Working with Children

The working with children session explores the joys and challenges involved in working with children aged up to 11. We discuss the different graduate career roles, expected pay and training routes into each profession. It is delivered by an experienced teacher who has worked with young people of all ages.

Type of session: a mixture of lecture style and discussion based activities.

The objectives of the session are:

  • To explore the different careers that are available working with children.
  • To know the important factors involved in working with this age group.
  • To discuss behaviour management techniques.

Things to think about before the session:

  1. Why are you interested in working with children?
  2. What challenges are associated with working with this age group?
  3. What sort of qualities do you need to work with children?

What to bring

The training materials will be emailed out to you after the course, however you may find it useful to bring a pen and paper.
