How to Adult: House Hunting and You

 

This workshop is designed to help you consider and understand different terms around house hunting when you leave University. We will discuss the differences between renting and buying a house, your rights when doing both and the importance of credit scores (and how to improve them). This workshop is delivered by a recent graduate.

Type of Session: discussion based workshop

The objectives of the session are:

  • Consider budgeting information for when you graduate, including the processes to buy or rent a house.
  • Identify what factors might affect your credit scores.
  • Understand factors to consider when living with a partner and how to safeguard your rights and finances.

Things to think about before the session:

  1. What is the biggest fear or question you have regarding house hunting when you leave full time education?
  2. Do you know what your credit score is?

What to bring

The training materials will be emailed out to you after the course, however you may find it useful to bring a pen and paper.
