Student Leader Masterclass

This is a session designed to cover characteristics that will help to improve you as a student leader here at the University of Leicester. Whether you are course rep, member of union council or president of the chocolate society; we will help you to refine your skills as an effective leader such as chairing meetings, resolving conflicts and communicating effectively.

Type of Session: Workshop

The objectives of the session are:

  • Identify features of effective communication, and barriers to this.
  • Employ principles of effective communication and chairing within a meeting situation.
  • Identify causes of conflict and establish effective ways to resolve and avoid conflict within group settings.

 

Things to think about before the session:

  1. Are you having issues with fellow course members or members of your society? Would you like the requisite skills to try and resolve this issue?
  2. Do you communicate effectively with your peers?
  3. We will e-mail a short video for you to watch beforehand about the art of better conversations, please take the time to view it, as we will refer to it within the session.

What to bring

You do not need to bring material beforehand. However, we do ask that you take time to watch this  video.
