Safeguarding and Harassment

This session introduces the subject of safeguarding students and identifies some key areas to spot signs of abuse and neglect. Furthermore, we will help to ensure you know your role if a safeguarding issue was to present itself and provide you with the relevant signposting information. We also look further into the ongoing problem of harassment in a university context and discuss how and why this occurs.

Type of Session: a mixture of lecture style and discussion based activities.

The objectives of the session are:

  • To name the categories of abuse and neglect.
  • To recognise the main indicators of abuse and neglect.
  • To understand your own role in regards to Safeguarding.
  • To recognise and understand Consent and Harassment.

Things to think about before the session:

    1. What is safeguarding? What are the concerns around university students?

    2. How do we know if another student is a concern? What would you do?

What to bring
